Event Capture

Introduction

CodX PostOffice offers the Mail Search function for mailings. The item research is depends on certain data. The item must be completely recorded (recipient address, sender, format, weight, etc.). In addition the process of an item can be documented by means of status messages. In CodX PostOffice, these status messages are called events. and are mostly captured with barcode scanners. Exactly this can be done in the Data Terminal module.
In addition, data can also be captured that is not directly linked to individual items, e.g. the allocation of employees to districts. For this purpose, the event type Employee<=>District Assignment has to be selected, then the the district UPOC can be scanned or entered.

Supported barcode scanners

In the Event Capture module, two types of barcode scanners are supported:

  • Barcode scanners with keyboard emulation (Wedge)
These barcode scanners work analogous to the input via keyboard and facilitate the input of UPOCs. They are usually looped into the cable of the PC keyboard. keyboard. If a barcode is read in, the system behaves as if the barcode had been entered with the keyboard.

When using this type of scanner , the entry is made in the Event Entry tab , Guided Data Entry.

  • Radio scanners (wireless barcode scanners)
Wireless scanners send the scanned barcodes via wireless technology to the PC and thus allow the capture without working directly on the screen. working directly on the screen.

In order to use the radio scanners efficiently, the user must know (by heart) the sequences of the event types used.
It is also helpful if he carries the event types and parameter codes (e.g. delivery codes) with him as a barcode list and can scan from it.
If this type of scanner is used, the logging is done in the register DTS - DataTerminal stationary, log data entry via radio scanner.
The supported scanners are listed in the AdminDoc.

Data to be collected

In general, the following data are required for each event:

  • Employees
The employee who has entered the event, entry by entering/scanning the employee's UPOC or selection.

  • Event type
The type of the event, captured by entering/scanning the event type UPOC or selection in the combo box.

  • Entity (shipment, bundle, box)
The entity for which the event is captured, capture by entering/scanning the shipment/bundle/box UPOC.

  • Parameter
If applicable, optional parameter for the event type (e.g. sorter, depot, etc.), entry by input/scan of the corresponding UPOC.

Procedure of the acquisition

The entry is always made according to the following procedure. The details of step 3. depend on the selected event type (see Event Status Machine).

  1. Enter employees
When logging in to CodX PostOffice , the employee is automatically recognized and selected.
However, you can also select another employee.
The selected employee is valid for all following events until another employee is entered.

  2. Select event type
The selected event type applies to all subsequent events until another event type is entered.

  3. Enter parameter or event
Enter the entity or parameter (depending on the type of status machine of the selected event type)

  4. Repeat step 3.
Repeat step 3 until another employee or event type is selected.
