Broadcast research

The 'Broadcast research' module is primarily used to research broadcasts. The broadcasts found can be viewed in detail, or the broadcasts found can be edited in the broadcast editor. Of course, editing only applies to broadcasts that were found online, i.e. not in the archive.
The filters available for searching for a program are grouped into 5 different tabs, all of which can be used in combination with each other. Not all filters are available for the search in the archive; these are deactivated in the dialog when the search in the archive is active and therefore cannot be used.
A maximum of 1000 consignments can be searched for at once; if more than 1000 consignments are found, the search is aborted after 1000 consignments. This limit does not apply if the consignments are to be edited.

View

The 5 tabs with the various filters are located on the top third of the screen. The tabs containing filter data set by the user are displayed with a leading binocular symbol. The bottom 2 thirds are used by the list of found programs. The header of the list of found items shows the number of items found. A maximum of 1000 shipments can be searched for at once; if more than 1000 shipments are found, the search is aborted after 1000 shipments. The available functions can be found on the right-hand side.

Operation

Operation includes the functions displayed on the right-hand side, the search itself and is described in a subsequent section.

  • Database (online or archive)
Use the radio button to select whether you want to search in the online database or in the archive database. Only the programs in the corresponding database will be searched with the selected filter.

  • Update filter data
This function is used to update the filter data stored for prefilled filters. E.g. delivery codes. If delivery codes have been changed in the meantime, they are only updated with this function or when CodX PostOffice is restarted.

  • Reset
This function deletes all recorded filter data

  • Search
Executes the search with the entered filter data. A waiting dialog is displayed, which can be cancelled. Please note that the search execution can only be canceled to a limited extent; certain processes cannot be interrupted. If you press Cancel, the search may continue for some time before it is canceled.

  • Edit
This function is used to open the consignments found on the basis of the filter data in the consignment editor.

  • Detail
Select a program and click on this function. A detail dialog opens showing all the information for the selected broadcast.

  • Print
Select a list that you want to print

Search for shipments

In principle, you have the option of searching in the online database or in the archive, provided the corresponding license is available.
The search for broadcasts can be carried out using extensive filters. The filters are divided into individual tabs. If a search term is stored in a filter, a binocular symbol is displayed on the corresponding filter.

On each tab you have different consignment attributes that you can search for. Either a selection or an arbitrary entry, the corresponding attributes should be self-explanatory.

In the input fields there are some fields that can be influenced with additional search characters, these are the following consignment attributes:

  • Entry tab: Order identifier and alternative code

  • Other tab: Remarks

You can use wildcards (*) and quotation marks on these transmission attributes. If you use wildcards, any text will be found at this point; quotation marks are used if you want to search for several search terms summarized with and , or if you want to search for search terms with less than 3 characters. Wildcards and quotation marks can be combined as desired.

Examples in the order identifier:

  • Order 001 Special
Searches for all order IDs which are either equal toorder or equal to001 or equal tospecial.

  • Order* 001* Special
Searches for all order IDs that begin withorder, or begin with001 or have the same name asspecial.

  • "Order 001" Special
Searches for all order IDs with the same name as order 001 orspecial.

  • "Order 0*"Special
Searches for all order IDs that begin withorder 0 or have the same name asspecial.

Keywords

You can enter general terms in the 'Keywords' tab. CodX PostOffice searches for the keyword in the following consignment data: consignment UPOC, recipient address and customer data. These terms are automatically executed with a wildcard search, i.e. you do not have to write out the whole word to find it.

Address

You can enter the recipient address you are looking for in the 'Address' tab. You have the option "Address search with aliases". If you activate this option, all address data for country and city will be found which have also been entered for an alias country or city. Please note that activating this option will extend the search.

!!! Please note!!!
If only the country is entered in the address dialog and this is the default country, then the country is not taken into account in the search. If a different country is selected or a different attribute is entered in the address, the country is taken into account again in the search.

Miscellaneous

On the Other tab, in addition to the consignment attributes, you will also find the Consignment list button. This function allows you to load a list of consignment UPOCs and/or alternative codes from a text file or enter them directly. The system searches for these recorded consignments, including previously entered filters, which are also taken into account.
