Settings handheld scanner The list shows all handheld scanners, RFID readers and signature pads that have been detected by CodX PostOffice on this computer and are to be supported.
The dialog is also used, among other things, to update firmware on individual devices, to run a test or to test the connection to the device. Operation RFID readers If you have connected an RFID reader, you should operate it correctly as follows: View The screen is divided into 2 lists, each with its own functions. The upper list shows all found handheld devices, on the right side of it are the available functions to the devices. The lower list is a test list, which displays all read-in data of an existing device. On the right side there is the function to delete the read-in data from the list. Functions The following functions are available.
Reinitialize This is a menu button with the selection of the scanner groups that are to be reinitialized. The following groups are available for selection:
With this function, all previously found handheld scanners of the selected group are deleted and all devices of the selected group are newly detected. This function can take a while, since the most different hardware configurations must be recognized. Use this function only if you think that not all devices that are really connected are displayed in this list. Automatic reinitialization If a scanner is unplugged during operation, for example, or loses the connection for some other reason, a new initiation is started automatically after a certain time of error detection (approx. 15 - 20 seconds). This continues until the scanner is recognized again. The reinitialization occurs the first time after 5 seconds, after that this time is always doubled up to a maximum of 300 seconds, i.e. 5 minutes. After that, the interval remains at 5 minutes until CodX PostOffice is restarted. This behavior can also be enforced depending on the module, if no scanner was found when starting CodX PostOffice, currently this is the case in the module Trays, there an RFID reader is mandatory. if this is not found at startup, the reinitialization process described above comes into play. Refresh This function refreshes the list of found devices. Settings This function displays a detailed dialog with the available Custfields, each of which is available for different devices (see Handheld scanner settings.) To do this, select a device from the list. Configuration (standby image for signatures pad only) Depending on the device type, a different detail dialog for configuring the device previously selected in the list appears here. Signatures pad You can define a standby image for the signature pad here. The image should have a size of 320x160 pixels, black/white, and be of PNG image format. If you have not defined an image, the CodX Software logo will be displayed as soon as the device is connected. Elatec RFID Reader In the configuration of an RFID reader you have the option to update the firmware. You can also execute this function when no device is displayed, so that any non-existent or incorrect firmware can be overwritten with the firmware from CodX Software AG. Scripting For all RFID readers, you have the option to store a script that is executed after each scan of an RFID card and can manipulate the result of the scan based on the read data. To do this, select a device from the list. Further details can be found in thescripting help. Device support On this detail dialog you can set which devices are to be supported. For this purpose, the wedge functionality incl. wedge prefix and postfix can be set for each device group. Scanners that have been defined as wedge scanners are initialized immediately on startup. Test When you activate this function, a test dialog for the selected device appears, if it is available. In the case of a signature pad, the signature dialog appears in order to capture a signature (see Capture signature.) To do this, select a device from the list. Test connection To do this, select a device from the list. When this function is selected, the current connection status to this device is displayed. If everything is OK, the message "The device is connected and in operation." should be displayed. If you receive an error message, initialize the device group in which this device is located. Set mode If the device found is a scanner that can read barcodes as well as images and/or videos, you can configure this device what to read. These settings will remain until the scanner is re-detected or CodX PostOffice is restarted. |
