Universal addresses (#UniversalAddress)

Universal addresses are normal address entries in the CodX PostOffice database, but not associated with any other entity (e.g. cost center, person, courier order, etc.). Addresses with this type can be entered and searched for in any address dialog. You can define by which attributes you want to search. It is possible to search for several search terms that occur within an attribute. Furthermore you have the possibility to use a fuzzy search. This will search for similarities within a term, which must be at least 60% true. Please note that depending on the size of the address database, the fuzzy search may take a long time.

View

This dialog shows a list with all available universal addresses. No other address types are displayed. In the upper part there are the search terms with the search options inside the "Search" box. On the right side of the list are the buttons with the available functions.

Operation

Please note that a lock is used to edit and/or delete universal addresses. This means that if another user edits or deletes a universal address, it is locked for all other users. In this case, a message dialog appears that tells you whether a universal address is being edited or deleted. This also applies if several universal addresses are edited or deleted at once.
For the list, the filter function can be displayed by right-clicking on the list header, which makes it possible to select the displayed universal addresses by means of a filter.

  • Search
The addresses are searched with the set search options. If no search term is entered, all universal addresses are displayed.
If you have previously selected one or more universal addresses in the list, the selection is retained if the selected universal address(es) have not been deleted in the meantime.
  • Add
With this function you can enter a new universal address. For this purpose, a detail dialog is displayed where most of the available attributes can be edited. After the new entry and saving, the newly entered universal address is displayed and marked in the list.
  • Edit
First select a universal address in the list and then press the "Edit" button. The same detail dialog for editing an address appears as when creating a new address. To edit an address you may only select one universal address, multiple selection only works for deleting and printing universal addresses.
  • Delete
First select one or more universal address(es) you want to delete from the list. Then press the "Delete" button. A confirmation prompt appears asking whether you really want to delete these universal address(es). After confirming with Yes, the selected universal address(es) will be deleted.
  • Print
First select one or more universal address(es) you want to print from the list. Then select the report displayed below by pressing the "Print" button.
  • +/-
With the two buttons "+" and "-" you have the possibility to either "+" activate all attributes or "-" deactivate all attributes. The set options (activated and deactivated search attributes) are saved in the registry, so that you can continue working with the same settings the next time you open this search dialog.
