BV: Entry and maintenance of alias

In the BV module of CodX PostOffice you have the possibility to maintain aliases for countries, localities, streets and logistics units (IHS only). Alias are used to store different spellings or additional names, which can be used accordingly during capture and processing. However, in order for this to function properly, various points must be taken into account when maintaining the alias.

CAUTION: If incorrect or inaccurate aliases are entered, this can lead to problems when capturing items with sorting machines or at the manual capture stations. In addition, a large number of aliases can significantly impair the capture performance.

General guidelines

Please follow these guidelines for all types of aliases in county government:

• Do not enter any aliases which are the same as the original name (e.g. place = 'Cham', alias = 'Cham')

• Enter an alias with the same name only once, not more than once

Guidelines for Alias Land

Please follow these guidelines for Alias Land:

• Enter the aliases for countries in ISO format (2 and / or 3 digits)

• Enter an alias in different languages (e.g. for country 'Switzerland': Alias 'Suisse', 'Switzerland')

• Do not enter the same alias name for the same country

Guidelines for Alias Location

Please follow these guidelines for Alias location:

• Do not enter districts as alias (e.g. 'Berlin - Kreuzberg'). Enter the city districts correctly in the BV.

Guidelines for Alias Street

Please follow these guidelines for Alias Street:

• Do not enter aliases for the various abbreviations such as 'Strasse', 'Str.'. If the German tokenizer is enabled. These abbreviations are formed by CodX PostOffice itself.

• Do not enter aliases for the abbreviations 'Aleja', 'Ulica', 'Plac' and 'Osiedle' if the Polish tokenizer is active. These abbreviations are created by CodX PostOffice itself.

• Do not enter aliases for streets with districts if the Polish tokenizer is active.

Guidelines for the use of sorting machines

If sorting machines are in use, additional or different guidelines for the maintenance of Alias apply depending on the manufacturer and model. Please contact the manufacturer for specific advice.
